Moderation means not living in extremes. Neither over confidence nor under confidence is good. Under confidence may lead to under performance despite one being capable enough. Over confidence may also lead to under performance as an overconfident person treats any situation at hand lightly and does not give his 100% attempt.
Thinking yourself as superior to others gives rise to arrogance and ego. On the other hand, thinking yourself as inferior to others leads to helplessness and hopelessness. The key is to remove these psychological barriers and think others as equal. Neither success nor failure should be taken very seriously. Failure hampers confidence whereas success leads to complacency. The balance between extremes in life must be maintained.
